As part of the Feeding Chronicles, I wanted to share some of my favorite products so far! I feel like I had more breastfeeding products than baby gear..it was INSANE how much stuff I quickly accumulated. Since I was in pain and still learning, I was ordering things on amazon.com almost every day. My husband really should have banned me from Amazon…
Anyway, here are a few of my favorite products related to feeding this chunky little baby!

My Brest Friend (GAWD, I hate the name!) I love this because it’s a sturdy pillow and it has a cute little pocket for my cell phone and chocolate. I think it’s good for short people–the Boppy seemed too big. I don’t use it that often anymore since we’ve got the hang of things, but I think I’ll be using it again once M gets a little heavier.

Avent Comfort Shells (The Milk Savers…I never used the other pair). Um, I have a generous supply. And I leak….a LOT. I throw one of these on the opposite side that M is nursing from and in the mornings I nearly leak out an ounce. I usually try to pump 2-3 oz a day at some point, so I just throw this milk in that bag and freeze it.

Motherlove Nipple Cream. Lanolin hurt like hell to put on and it really stained a few of my shirts. I LOVED this stuff, it was easy to put on and it smelled nice. It helped my poor girls heal when M destroyed them early on. Now we’re using it as diaper rash cream so it doesn’t go to waste!

Avent Thermal Gel Pads. Holy moly, these things got a ton of use the first 2 weeks after M was born. When my milk first came in and I was engorged, and when I had a few plugged ducts, I heated them up. When I was just sore, I used these when they were frozen. They are a NECESSITY in my mind for anyone planning on breastfeeding!
.
Medela Pump in Style Breastpump. A lot of people LOVE this pump, and I’m one of them. Even though I’ll be working from home, I still wanted to have an electric pump. I’ve started a little freezer stash (not that M will take a bottle…but that’s another post), and it’s so nice that it only takes me 5 minutes to pump a 3oz bag most of the time.

Organic Cotton Nursing Pads. So I have a love-hate with these. They are NOT absorbant at all, so I put them in with a more absorbent disposable pad. Why do I use 2 types at the same time? Because the disposables make me itch like crazy! I have very sensitive skin, and I’ve tried every pad on the market and have the same problem with all of them. Now I buy the thinnest ones (Avent’s Nursing Pads) and wear a pair under the cotton ones. It’s a pain, but solves the itching problem.
Nursing mamas, what are your favorite products?
Those comfort shells? I wanted to wear them all the time. They were the one and only thing I could put on/near my boobs that would make them not hurt…as badly. MAN they hurt those first few weeks!!
Totally jealous of your pumping ability…and I didn’t even think of using that nipple cream as a diaper cream! Copying you
If it makes you feel better, I have an intense letdown and spray all over the place which is why it’s so easy I pump. However, without pumping, it’s messy all of the time. I’m constantly soaked, thanks to M not being able to handle the speed.
And Dr. Google gave me the idea about using it as a diaper cream
