Last month we took our first airplane trip since M was born. We flew up to Ohio (where I grew up) to visit family and I was also in a wedding of a friend from high school. We were there for 4 days and were SO BUSY the entire time, and M was a trooper. She let us mess up her naps, drag her all over the city, and occasionally she had to wait to eat (since I had bridesmaid duties) and she took it like a champ. Here are a few photos from our journey!
Miss M’s first airplane ride! She was so good. I basically nursed her as much as possible because it was the easiest way to keep her quiet. It worked well. Next time we fly we plan on purchasing her a seat because she’s WILD. We don’t fly that often anymore, so it will be well worth the extra cost.
We took the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit on the plane with us to help her feel more “at home”. I also bought a pair of noise cancelling headphones because she’s extremely sensitive to noise. I bought these and they worked fine, but they run extremely small. Thankfully, M has a tiny head so they worked just fine (you can see them on her head in one of the above photos).
We took M to the Columbus Zoo and we had a blast. She loved checking out the animals, and my husband loved carrying her around in the Gemini the whole time, pointing out animals to her. It was pretty much the most adorable thing ever.

M and my husband attended the rehearsal dinner for the bride and groom and she did super well being out late and around a ton of people. The dinner didn’t start until 6pm or so and her bedtime should have been around 8pm EST. Dinner wasn’t even served until close to 8pm, and my awesome husband took her into a quiet area of the restaurant and bounced her to sleep in the Gemini carrier. She only slept about 35 minutes, but she woke up happy, so that’s what mattered. One of the servers even took him his dinner and wine and set it up on a nearby table so it didn’t get cold. Such good service!
My friend who got married is a friend who I’ve known since I was 15, and our moms even went to high school together. How random is that? She was also a bridesmaid in my wedding. I absolutely love her now husband—he’s such a sweet guy! I’m so happy to have been a part of their wedding and wish them years and years of marital happiness.
M and my husband did not attend the ceremony or reception, but my husband brought her up to eat before the wedding started. I had my sister (who was hanging out with them while I was at the wedding) snap a few pictures of the three of us. M loved my red flowers and wanted to attack them. It was pretty cute, but unfortunately I couldn’t let her have the flowers no matter how much she wanted them.
As you can see, M was launching herself at the ice cream. I gave her a small taste of pear sorbet and she loved it. I’m raising an ice cream addict!
M also got to meet her baby cousin S! M loved S and seeing the 2 of them together for the first time was pretty much the cutest thing ever.
We had some professional photos taken while we were in Ohio, but I am STILL waiting on them from the photographer. I’ll share some on the blog once I get them, I can’t wait to see how they came out!
Overall, it was a fun but exhausting trip. We’ve been travelling a lot with M recently and I wouldn’t call it hard, but it’s definitely tiring. I’m glad our trip went so well, and we’re hoping to go up to Ohio again in the Spring!
